Tips for Beginner Runners

Many people think that they can just begin running at any time, without any knowledge about the sport. These tips will help you become a safer and faster runner.

Begin slowly – Everyone needs to find their starting point. Even if you are physically fit, running can put your body under a lot of pressure. Begin by only running a mile or less. You can also switch back and forth between running and walking.

Once you find your starting point, you will be able to slowly build up from there.

Change your workout routine – You will get better results if you vary the intensity and length of your workouts. Even more advanced runners have easier days on which they can rest. On some days you should really test your limits, while just resting at other times.

Don’t add mileage too quick – Adding large amounts of distance in a short period of time will only result in injury. It is important that you slowly add mileage to your routine. A rule of thumb is to not add more than 10{7bd3c7ad8bdfca6261de5ca927cd789e17dbb7ab504f10fcfc6fb045f62ae8d5} every week. You should always give yourself enough time to reach your mileage goals. This shouldn’t be a problem if you truly love running.

It even takes some people more than 2 years to train for a marathon. Just take your time and enjoy all the benfits that running has to offer. Follow the above tips and you will become a safer and better runner.

I wish you luck in all your running endeavors.
