This Rapist Messed With the Wrong Women

A would-be rapist was left with a bruised and battered face after the woman he tried to attack fought back using her keys.

Johnathon (corr) Holmes, 35, dragged the woman into a hedge but she hit him in the face with her keys and bit down on his tongue as he forced it inside her mouth.

The mugshot after his arrest show clearly the damage that the woman did, with two black eyes and scratch marks all over Holmes’ face.

Creepy Holmes was caught on CCTV in Sheffield city centre hiding behind walls and watching lone women after he had spent the afternoon and evening drinking in town.

He stalked his 21-year-old victim as she made her way home from work and she tried to escape three times after she realised she was being stalked.

Holmes, 35, managed to push her into the bush and climbed on top of her before groping her and telling her: “You are going to enjoy this.”

However, the woman punched him twice in the stomach with her keys before biting his tongue when he placed it in her mouth.

She managed to get on top of her attacker and put her keys to Holmes’ neck and throat before she was seen by two passers-by.

Holmes ran off but was later arrested, telling police he did not remember what happened due to being drunk.

His victim told Sheffield Crown Court: “I believed without a doubt this man was going to rape me.

“My life would have been over – he might as well have killed me right there. I was so terrified but so angry.”

Rachael Harrison, prosecuting, added: “He won’t do anything like this to a woman again.”

Amy Earnshaw, representing Holmes, said the attack was “completely out-of-character”.

She said: “He can’t say why he has acted as he did.”

Sentencing Holmes to four-and-half years in prison, Judge Sarah Wright praised the woman for fighting back as well as the help from passers-by.
