Spyware is a pain in the neck. Not only does it invade your privacy and give you the occasional pop up ad, but some spyware programs can be particularly destructive. CouponAge is one of those kinds of spyware.
It’s not always easy to tell if you have been infected with CouponAge. Some reports have claimed that CouponAge has given them pop up ads, but other reports never mention getting them at all. One thing is for sure though. Whether or not you know that your computer has been infected, CouponAge knows it has infected you.
Like most spyware, CouponAge is intrusive and spies on you. It keeps a record of all of your Internet activities. But one feature that CouponAge has that some other spyware programs don’t is that it registers itself as a Layered Service Provider, or LSP.
Because CouponAge is an LSP, it sees everything that goes through your Internet connection. It sees what you send out and when something is coming in, and it sees it before you do. This enables CouponAge to make changes to the page that you are about to view, such as advertisements or additional links in your searches.
The most dangerous aspect of CouponAge, however, is that because it is an LSP, removing it is incredibly difficult. If CouponAge is removed incorrectly, your Internet connection could be permanently damaged. This is not something that you want to happen.
To be sure that CouponAge gets removed properly, find a reliable anti-spyware program that can remove it for you. Beware of free anti-spyware programs though, because many of them end up being rogue programs that will actually give you more spyware.
Really do your research when you are shopping for an anti-spyware program. Be sure that the anti-spyware program you are going to get has a guaranteed 100% spyware removal. That is very important because if it doesn’t have that guarantee, then it really isn’t worth getting. You don’t want any spyware remaining on your computer.
