Anonymous Plans “Isis” Trolling Day; December 11 2015

Hacking group Anonymous has made it its mission to declare “war” on Islamic State (Isis) for some time now, the latest attack orchestrated by¬†Anonymous is to hold an official trolling day against IS sympathisers which is set to take place on December 11 2015 and can be joined by all who oppose ISIS and Islamic extremism.

The campaign called “Day of Rage” will see Anonymous and its supporters take the fight to IS (Daesh) by mocking the group in a number of different ways through social media. It released a statement as part of its OpIsis campaign, which was launched after the Charlie Hedbo massacre in France, stating that Isis “thrive off of fear” and trolling its members “will show them that we are not afraid” and “mock them for the idiots they are”.

The uprising is planned around the world, with Anonymous setting objectives for different social media networks for those who want to join the cause.

It is believed Anonymous’s OpIsis campaign has already managed to take down 150 Isis-related websites and unmask hundreds of thousands of Twitter accounts of Isis members and supporters. One act saw Anonymous take down an Isis propaganda site and replace it with an advert for Prozac. The hacktivist group hopes this mass uprising will demonstrate “strength in numbers can make a real difference” and that “we will prevail after all their horrors” rather than “hide in fear”.
