Have you ever found yourself looking in the mirror and wondering when you are going to stop dreaming that you’ll one day stumble across the fountain of youth so you won’t have to work so hard to look good again? Sadly, you’ll never find anything as easy as magic to make you look and feel sixteen again, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for the pains of growing old. Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to look and feel younger than you are.
The bad news about the aging process is that it is 50% genetic. So no matter what you do there will be some things you cannot change about your body. The good news is that the other 50% can be controlled by lifestyle. Don’t blame your extra weight and lack of energy on genetics. If you were thin once with lots of energy, you can be that way again no matter what age you are.
Follow these 8 steps and you’ll soon find yourself on your way back to your youthful self.
Step #1: Avoid Skipping Meals.
It’s actually much healthier to eat more small healthy meals throughout the day than to eat 3 big meals or skip them altogether. Make sure they are all relatively healthy though. Junk is junk, no matter how much or little you eat of it.
Step #2: Combat Free Radicals.
This means stop smoking! And if you don’t smoke, stop being around places where you are breathing in smoke or air pollution. Eating more fruits and vegetables will help even more.
Step #3: Start Taking Supplements.
Multi-vitamins and soy-protein shakes have been proven to be the healthiest foods you could possibly feed your body with. And green tea will give you so much energy you won’t know what to do with it. You won’t find these products in grocery stores.
Step #4: Drink More Milk
Calcium is essential for strengthening bones. You don’t want to become that little old lady or man who breaks their hip every time someone brushes up against you.
Step #5: Get Your Fiber Fix
A diet rich in fiber protects your waistline and your heart at the same time. Lowering the risk of heart attacks will make you feel young by keeping you out of the hospital.
Step #6: Go Back To Water
As Americans, we are almost conditioned from birth to drink soda. A lifetime of this will do nothing but deteriorate your bones and stain your teeth. Water is free, healthy and essential. Why ruin this totally healthy and natural drink by mixing it with syrup and sugar?
Step #7: Cut Down On Junk Food
I know, I know. Who wants to do that? A healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean always mean making the healthy choice. Just don’t make the unhealthy choice every time you get hungry. Junk food is fine in moderation.
Step #8: Limit alcohol
Just like junk food, alcohol should be consumed only in moderation. Too much alcohol leads to breast cancer and liver damage. You’ll also avoid putting on extra weight because alcohol contains calories, unlike water.
As you can see, there are several aspects that must be addressed in order to get you back into shape with the energy of a sixteen year old. Once you begin to make small changes in your lifestyle, you’ll begin to understand that it’s just as easy to grab an apple as it is to grab a bag of potato chips. Don’t let other people fool you into thinking you have to be fat and lethargic just because you are aging. That is nothing but a myth. For things to change, you’ve got to change. It’s as simple as that.
