1. Tell your family.

You are not going to lose the weight by yourself. You need help and support from family and friends – Ask them for help and support because it will be hard with it. You will run the risk of them inadvertently sabotaging your efforts if you don’t tell them.

2. Identify your ideal weight.

Don’t try to maintain a weight that isn’t right for you. Find out what your ideal body weight and try to achieve that goal. Don’t lose too much weight or else you won’t feel good.

3. Identify your exercise.

No exercise was created equal. Find the one that works best for you – one that you enjoy doing and never get bore of. I recommend you walk each day if possible. If you are a gamer like me…then you might enjoy playing the Wii to lose weight.

4. Take before and after photos.

Taking before and after picture is a very nice way to reward yourself after you lost the weight and it can also serve as a motivator too! Share the photo with your family and friends – you will be laughing one day when looking at that before image.

5. Lose one pound a week.

If you are not losing at least one pound a week on your chosen weight loss regimen – then it is because you stalled or you finished. If you are still overweight and is not losing at least one lb per week, then there is something wrong here. You need to set that one lb a week goal if you aren’t there yet.
