That’s right, if there are any non-swimmers in the family you can have a fantastic time in the Games Zone or during the summer months you can enjoy the outdoor attractions of the Giant Slide, Bouncy Castle and Bungee Trampoline while the Remote Control Trucks & Boats are a really fun way to test your driving and sailing skills!
- Blennerville Windmill
Perhaps it’s not the most obvious of family tourist attractions in Tralee but Blennerville Windmill is both an educational and entertaining place in which to amuse your little darlings. Apart from being the largest working windmill in Ireland, Blennerville Windmill is now home to a craft complex and multi-lingual exhibition which traces the emigration history of the area.
Blennerville acted as a main gateway for Co. Kerry to North America during the Irish Famine so this is a poignant place to visit. Best part of the visit though is to climb the stairs inside the windmill all the way to the top where you can take in some spectacular views of Tralee Bay and the Kerry mountains.
- Tralee Omniplex
Okay, let’s say the rain clouds have gathered for an afternoon and you’re in need of a few hours respite to keep the family entertained? A great option is to check out Tralee Omniplex where the latest flicks will be on show (plus they’ve got one of those 3D enabled screens too!).
This eight screen cinema is located on Dan Spring Road (next door to The Aqua Dome) and there’s plenty of free parking available if the family prefer to avoid the short stroll from the center of Tralee town.
- Kerry County Museum
Without doubt, one of the top attractions in Tralee and Co. Kerry and is filled with interesting and entertaining exhibitions and just to prove its totally geared towards the family holiday, there is FREE admission for kids at Kerry County Museum.
Set in Ashe Memorial Hall, the museum was named 2009 Museum Of The Year and you’ll soon see why as you flit from the fantastic Medieval Experience where you can step back in time to a Medieval Tralee with all of its sights, sounds and smells!
The entire family will love this part of the museum while the Knight’s Hall sets the scene perfectly for your journey through history while the Museum Gallery guides you through the centuries of Kerry. The 10-minute audio-visual show carries you over the Kerry landscape where you’ll meet its people and its towns and villages plus we recommend you check out the Tom Crean Room to find out about one of Kerry’s true heroes.
- Toby World
Toby World is regarded as one of the most popular family attractions in Tralee where 2-hour periods of play time can be enjoyed by the kids. Activities include 4 spiral slides, 3 huge play frames, 4-lane Astra slide, Go-Karting, Quazar (Lazer-tag) and much, much more!
Additionally, there is an indoor sports court and for the little ones (we mean the under 4’s!) there is a Baby & Toddler Area with special activities. And while the kids are burning off all that energy, parents can chill out in the Cafe where refreshments and light meals are served throughout the day.
