1. Research on the company
It pays to know the nature of business of the company who will be interviewing you. Not only does it save you from looking stupid when asked the question “What do you know about our company?” but it also gives the impression that you have done your homework and that it helps you establish a common ground between you and your interviewer.
2. Practice answering common interview questions
It helps to do mock job interviews or role plays with friends or relatives. Not only does it give you the opportunity to get feedback on how to improve your answers, but it also somehow lessens the jitter during the actual interview.
3. Be on time
Punctuality is ALWAYS a big factor to consider when getting someone for the job. If you want to make your first good impression, be present at least 5 minutes before the job interview time.

If you’re a man and you think that you have to wear a silk tie to go with your equally elegant shirt, then by all means do it. 5. Ask smart questions
Yes, the word “smart” needs to be indicated in this tip. More often than not, people would ask questions about the compensation package as early as the initial interview. Please, try to avoid this. It would rather be best to ask questions like “What is an ideal employee for you?” or “What is the company’s organizational structure?” or “What is the company’s advantage over its competitors?”
6. Think smart
Avoid giving short answers during the interview. Bear in mind again that you only have this one chance to show them how you think.
7. Stay calm
This may sound basic but is still an important tip to remember when preparing for a job interview. No matter how smart and experienced you are, but if you allow those butterflies in your stomach get in the way, you might not be able to show them what you’ve got.
8. Remember not to make negative remarks about your present and past employers.
Doing so would be an indication for your potential employer that you might also do the same thing to them, should things don’t turn out well.

This not only allows you to show your appreciation for the opportunity given to you but also indicates your interest in the job being offered.
